Living Environment Course Expectations
These expectations outline certain obligations that both you and I shall share in order to ensure a productive and successful year. Remember that you determine your own grade!
1. Materials needed
A. You will need to maintain a neat, organized science notebook. A loose-leaf type notebook will best serve you to allow the addition of handouts to your notes.
B. You will need a writing utensil everyday; a pen and a #2 pencil are highly recommended.
2. Homework is given every night and checked the following day. You will be responsible for completing each assignment. These assignments will help you to be better prepared for class participation.
3. Extra help – Wednesday 2:15pm – 2:45pm and Thursday 2:15pm – 2:55pm.
4. Good attendance and punctuality are very important! If you are absent, it is absolutely necessary to make up any work that was missed.
5. Grades – Each quarter’s report card will be calculated from the following data: *
1. Tests 50%
2. Labs 20%
3. Quizzes 20%
4. Homework 10%
5. Quarterly Exam** Counts twice towards test average
*Calculations for following quarters will be announced if changes occur.
** Midterm counts separately and will not be counted in the test average.
It is expected that each of you will behave in a manner conducive to learning. You will all be expected to respect each other’s opinion whether you agree with one another or not. The science classroom/laboratory is not a safe place for eating or drinking. No food or drink allowed!
